Pastor Harold W. Finch, II

Harold William Finch, II, fondly known as “Pastor Harold,” serves as Pastor of Greater Mount Zion Church (GMZ) of Nashville, Tennessee. He is a native of Nashville, Tennessee and the son of the late Pastor Harold and Dr. Janet Finch. He has two sisters, Angela Pierson (Andrew) and Toria Finch.

Pastor Harold graduated from McGavock High School with honors; received a Bachelor of Science degree from Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University; and a Master of Science in Public Health from Meharry Medical College. Currently, he is completing doctoral work at Tennessee State University in the field of public administration. He is also a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated.

Pastor Harold serves as the Director of Workplace Safety and Training for the Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools (MNPS). He joined MNPS in 2003 as a Chemistry and Physical Science Teacher at Martin L. King Magnet School. In 2004, he managed the health and mental health program for Davidson County’s Head Start program at Metro Action Commission. He returned to MNPS in 2006 to oversee the workplace safety and training program. Throughout his career, he has been the recipient of various honors, awards and community recognitions.

Pastor Harold was baptized at the age of five at Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church and served as an usher. Under his father’s spiritual leadership, he has held various leadership positions such as: Chair of Youth Ministry, Teacher and Secretary of Sunday School, Driver in Van Ministry, Leader in Vacation Bible School, and the Director of the Singles’, College and Couples’ Ministries. During the last seven years of his father’s pastorate, Pastor Harold worked closely with his father to enhance the weekly Bible Studies and cultivate spiritual growth within the GMZ Church Family.

Pastor Harold has served in ministry for over 33 years. He has served as the Minister of Music for the last 13 years. Prior to his appointment as Minister of Music, he held the role as drummer, trumpeter, organist, and pianist. Through his vision and leadership, Gospel Night Out, better known as G.N.O., was birthed. This event has spotlighted musical talents and gifts of the GMZ ministry and other local artists.

Pastor Harold was licensed as a minister in September 2015. Through daily prayer and study of God’s Word, he desires to continue creating a spirit of excellence as he does the work of the Lord. This work will be focused around recruiting and retaining members of the body of Christ who are committed to representing God and transforming lives.

Pastor Harold is married to Dr. Darcie C. Finch, who serves as a Numeracy Coach for MNPS. In ministry, she serves as the Vocal Director for the GMZ Praise and Worship team and facilitates Sunday School. Since their nuptials in 2004, they have been blessed with two loving children, Darilyn Andrea and Harold William Finch, III.
